Hydros Power launches €250,000 bridge funding round to support its next stage of industrial growth

Hydros Power has announced the launch of a €250,000 bridge funding round to advance the regulatory approval process for its STELION Powertrain model for refrigerated transport, a hydrogen-based power generation system designed to replace the diesel-powered units currently used to operate transport refrigeration equipment.

The funding aims to help the company complete a key step towards future commercialisation and prepare for its next stage of industrial growth.

The round comes at a turning point for Hydros Power. After several years of developing its own technology, the company has begun bringing its first products to market, secured confirmed orders and is pursuing new business opportunities involving hydrogen in industrial and mobility applications.

STELION Powertrain for refrigerated transport: advancing towards industrial approval

The main objective of the funding is to advance the homologation of the STELION Powertrain model for refrigerated transport, in accordance with the applicable regulatory and conformity assessment requirements.

This version of STELION Powertrain has been developed by Hydros Power to generate electricity from hydrogen for refrigerated transport applications. It aims to provide an alternative to the diesel-based electricity generation systems that currently power refrigeration equipment.

Completing the required homologation and conformity procedures is a necessary step towards commercial deployment. Achieving these requirements would enable Hydros Power to pursue new industrial opportunities and advance funding and partnership discussions as it prepares for its next stage of growth.

“Developing proprietary technology takes time and investment, but we are beginning to see the results of that effort. We now have products on the market and a clear opportunity to take the next step with STELION Powertrain for refrigerated transport. This funding round will allow us to focus our efforts on a key approval milestone for our industrial growth,” said Iván Navalón, CEO of Hydros Power.

Developed in Alicante: from engineering to first sales

The launch of the bridge funding round coincides with the first results of Hydros Power’s commercialisation strategy, focused on bringing hydrogen solutions developed by its own engineering team to market.

One of the company’s main milestones has been the start of series production of STELION Booster Station, its electrically driven system for the compression of hydrogen and other gases. Following the completion of the equipment’s CE conformity and ATEX certification processes, the company has begun manufacturing units for confirmed orders, with deliveries expected over the coming months.

In addition to these confirmed orders, the company has a pipeline of commercial opportunities covering more than 25 STELION Booster Station units for which quotations have already been issued.

The company’s range of commercially available products has also recently expanded with the launch of STELION Gas Cooler, a compact gas cooling unit that uses Peltier thermoelectric technology to reduce hydrogen temperature after compression. The product is now available to order and can be integrated with STELION Booster Station and other compatible compression systems.

These developments mark a new stage for Hydros Power, as the company brings its technologies to market while continuing to develop solutions for further industrial applications.

A new investment opportunity to support Hydros Power’s growth

The €250,000 bridge funding round is aimed at business angels, individual investors and small investment funds interested in participating in the company’s next stage of development. Hydros Power expects to close the round before 31 December 2026.

New investors would join a company that has already attracted institutional investment, including from EIT Urban Mobility, an initiative of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), a body of the European Union. EIT Urban Mobility invested in Hydros Power in 2025 to support the development of its hydrogen solutions for mobility and logistics.

With this bridge funding round, Hydros Power aims to advance the regulatory approval process for STELION Powertrain for refrigerated transport and continue its transition from technology development towards a stronger presence in the industrial market.
