Hydros Power secures investment from EIT Urban Mobility to scale its green hydrogen technology
The investment boosts the STELION ecosystem, which integrates hydrogen capsules, autonomous refueling stations, and an energy generation system for mobility and logistics.
Hydros Power has secured an initial investment of €190,000 from EIT Urban Mobility, an initiative of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), a body of the European Union. This support marks a key milestone in closing a €500,000 seed round aimed at accelerating the development of its technology and expanding its presence in strategic markets such as Europe and Asia.
“This backing validates our vision and strengthens our position within the European innovation ecosystem,” said Iván Navalón, CEO of Hydros Power. “Our focus now is to complete this funding round and consolidate our growth over the coming year.”

A new way to deliver green hydrogen
The STELION ecosystem is designed to transform hydrogen supply in environments where conventional infrastructure is nonexistent. With a modular, scalable, and self-sufficient approach, STELION enables the efficient storage, distribution, and use of green hydrogen.
- STELION Capsules are plug-and-play hydrogen storage units that transport green hydrogen with higher energy density, without the need for refrigeration.
- STELION Station is an autonomous station that generates hydrogen on-site from renewable sources to recharge the capsules, reducing the required pressure by up to 30%.
- STELION Powertrain is a hybrid system that combines a fuel cell and battery to deliver electric power for mobility, refrigeration, and logistics, optimizing hydrogen consumption through deep reinforcement learning, using up to 90% less lithium than battery-only systems.
From drones to ports: real-world applications already in motion
The Hydros Power team has already validated its technology in real-world scenarios. A hydrogen-powered aerial drone (UAV) has demonstrated three times the autonomy of a conventional battery-powered model. In addition, the company is leading a pilot project in collaboration with the Port Authority of Valencia, aimed at decarbonizing refrigerated transport using STELION Powertrain and STELION Capsules.
“These kinds of projects allow us to accelerate hydrogen adoption in sectors where it still isn’t a viable option,” says Pablo J. Garzo, co-founder and CFO of Hydros Power.
Institutional support and roadmap
Hydros Power has not only caught the attention of private investors, but also earned the recognition of public institutions and innovation networks for its potential to transform the hydrogen sector.
In 2024, the company was selected by the Valencia Innovation Capital program, achieving the highest score among more than 140 applicants. This recognition is part of the València 2030 Urban Strategy, which aims to position the city as a European benchmark in sustainable innovation.
In addition, Hydros Power has been backed twice by EIT Urban Mobility, securing an initial investment of €190,000 followed by an additional €60,000 through the SME Market Expansion program, which supports startups with high international scaling potential.
Beyond equity investment, the company has raised over €74,000 in prizes and recognitions across national and international platforms. Highlights include the award for Best Startup at the eMobility Expo World Congress—one of the leading events in sustainable mobility—as well as being named an INJUVE company by the Spanish Youth Institute, which supports young entrepreneurs with impact-driven solutions. Hydros Power has also been recognized by innovation programs such as Connecting Energy by Naturgy, focused on clean tech, and Cuatrecasas Acelera, one of Europe’s leading legaltech and innovation accelerators.
On an institutional level, the company has earned several official distinctions that validate its technological profile and commitment to R&D, including the Top 101 Seal from ENISA and the ADR Forum, the ENISA Seal, the EIBT Seal (for Innovative Technology-Based Companies), and the Innovative SME Seal.
With a clear roadmap ahead, Hydros Power is focused on scaling the production of its first STELION systems, closing its funding round, and forging new strategic partnerships to bring green hydrogen to more sectors.
If you share this vision and want to be part of the shift, whether as an investor, collaborator, or technology partner; we’d love to hear from you.
