Hydros Power completes its innovation project with the support of València Innovation Capital
Hydros Power has completed a hydrogen solution project as a beneficiary of the “Innovation in the City of València” grant programme, promoted by València City Council as part of València Innovation Capital and the València 2030 Urban Strategy.
The company was selected from more than 140 applicants and achieved the highest score in the call for proposals. Through this programme, Hydros Power received the institutional support needed to advance the validation of new applications for its hydrogen-based technology ecosystem.
During the project, the company developed and tested solutions aimed at decarbonising refrigerated transport, while also advancing its modular model for hydrogen storage, distribution and refuelling.

Hydrogen solutions to decarbonise refrigerated transport
One of the project’s main outcomes was the completion of two proof of concept trials of a fuel cell-based energy system for refrigerated transport applications.
The first PoC was carried out with Grupo FTM in Alicante, using a reefer and semi-trailer application. The second was conducted with Grupo Torres in Valencia, where the system was integrated into a reefer unit.
The PoCs helped advance the use of hydrogen as an energy source for refrigeration systems, particularly on fixed routes where vehicles can refuel at the same location and have access to a guaranteed hydrogen supply. These types of routes offer a clear opportunity to reduce emissions from refrigerated transport, an increasingly important priority for logistics operators seeking to reduce their reliance on diesel-powered equipment.
The technology developed by Hydros Power provides a quiet, zero-emission alternative during operation, making it particularly suitable for logistics, urban and port environments.
Progress on STELION Booster Station and STELION Capsules
The company also made progress in developing an MVP for a hydrogen refuelling system based on STELION Booster Station, its gas booster pump designed for hydrogen compression and supply. The project also supported the development of a new STELION Capsules prototype, designed to store, transport and supply hydrogen in a modular format.
The combination of these two technologies aims to facilitate access to hydrogen in applications where conventional infrastructure is unavailable. Through a distributed model, the capsules can deliver fuel directly to the point of use, while the station manages its supply and refilling.
This approach reduces reliance on large centralised stations and creates new opportunities for deploying hydrogen across sectors such as logistics, mobility, refrigerated transport and selected industrial applications.

A new step forward for the STELION Ecosystem
The completion of the project has enabled Hydros Power to continue advancing the development of its distributed hydrogen solutions and to validate different components of the STELION ecosystem. In the case of STELION Capsules, the progress achieved has laid the foundations for a new development phase, which will now continue through a EUREKA Eurostars project.
At the same time, the refuelling system developed during the project has evolved into a new version centred around STELION Booster Station. The equipment has completed the CE conformity process and obtained ATEX certification, marking the start of its commercialization.
Building on these results, Hydros Power continues working to make hydrogen a more accessible, modular and straightforward alternative to deploy in sectors where battery electrification does not always meet real operational requirements.
